Someone's been eating my broccoli!

The heart break of cabbage loopers. I'm off to Calloway's to get some bt spray.  Nasty ol'  caterpillars!

Tiny sprouts

Still growing - it amazes me to go out every day and see everything is a little bigger.

Getting bigger!

You can see that the lettuce and turnips are starting to poke through now too.  Whoohoo!  So far, things are going pretty well.

First sprouts!

I can't believe it - the radishes are coming up already!  Cool!
Per Mom's suggestion, I'm feeding it with Miracle gro - the kind that mixes with water at the hose. Go radishes go!

In the beginning...

There was the garden.  This is my attempt at vegetable gardening in Plano, TX.  My husband was sweet enough to create the garden for me back in June as a new mommie present.  I love gardening, but I don't know a lot about it and am looking forward to learning.  My mother and grandfather are *great* gardeners, so hopefully I'll be able to tap their know-how as we go along.

In fact, Mom helped me pick out what I needed for my first fall planting!  My little garden will have:
  • Lettuce (3 kinds)
  • Broccoli
  • Brussel sprouts
  • Cabbage
  • Radishes
  • Turnips
Yum!  I had no idea I could plant so many things in such a little space.  I'm doing the lettuce, radishes, and turnips from seed and the cabbage, brussel sprouts, and broccoli from plantings.   My husband also planted a blackberry bush around the side of the fence from a cutting my grandfather gave us, so we'll see how that does as well.
